Mendon defeats Whitney Young Magnet, IL at Disney 10-4

In our Disney opener, Mendon battled to a 10 - 4 victory over Whitney Young Magnet HS from Chicago. Whitney Young is a large school in the city of Chicago and were 11-3 overall entering the game.  Mitchell Breitenbach battled through 3 2/3 innings on the mound and left the game in a 4-4 tie.  Kevin Berardino then entered the game and shut the Dolphins out over 3 1/3 innings to earn the win.  Sophomore Ryan Swenson sparked the offense with 2 hits, a double and a triple.  Ryan Amoroso, Samuel Anaya and Zach Troiani also all added 2 hits to the offensive attack.  The Vikings record now stands at 2-1. Next up for Mendon is The Morgan School from Connecticut. The game was originally scheduled for a 9:00 pm start in the ESPN stadium, but heavy rains came through Orlando on Tuesday and the game was washed out.  The rescheduled game will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 am on field #24.
