Raimondi's relief effort earns a first round sectional win for the Vikings over Eastridge

John Raimondi was called on to pitch in a tie game with the Vikings season on the line.  John delivered 3 scoreless innings allowing only 2 hits while striking out 4.  Raimondi pounded the strike zone and kept his defense on its toes by working quickly and efficiently. 
Max Owens was called upon with 2 outs and the bases loaded with Lancers in the top of the 7th inning.  Max delivered a strike out to secure the victory for Mendon.
Offensively, Mendon was led by Mark Davis, Samuel Anaya and Ryan Amoroso who all tallied 2 hits while driving in a combined 5 runs.  Jake Volker delivered a 2 out 2 RBI single in the 2nd inning to push Mendon's lead to 5 - 1.  Eastridge's offense kept the pressure on Mendon, answering with 3 runs in the top of the 3rd. Mendon then scored 3 more of their own in the bottom of the 3rd to regrow the lead to 8 - 4.  After the Lancers plated 4 more runs in the 4th to tie the game at 8, Raimondi came in to shut them down the rest of the way. 
In the bottom of the 4th, Zach Troiani delivered what amounted to the decisive blow as he doubled down the left field line with one out.   After a passed ball that moved Zach to third base, Raimondi came up big at the plate by delivering a sacrifice fly to drive in the eventual game winning RBI. 
Mendon survives and advances in the single elimination sectional tournament by the final score of 8 - 7.
 The Vikings are 11 - 10 on the season and the action continues on Friday, 5/24 at Pittsford Sutherland at 4:30. The Vikings face the Knights in the sectional Quarter final round.  Please come out and support us!
