Mendon closed out the regular season of the 2013 campaign with a solid 7 - 2 victory over Brighton. Max Owens earned his 6th win of the season with a gutty 7 inning performance. Max allowed 1 earned run, 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 7 Barons.
The offense was led by a host of players contributing big hits in an explosive, 6 run, 2nd inning. Zach Troiani started the inning off with a booming double off of the left field wall. A walk to Owens and a Chris Hanley RBI single saw the Vikings tie the game at 1. Brian Dickinson worked out a walk and Mark Davis followed with a 2 RBI double to put the Vikings on top 3 - 1. Connor Winn then reached by error and Jake Volker singled and Mendon had pushed the lead to 6 - 1. The Vikings added an insurance run in the 6th inning after Dickinson doubled to lead off the inning, Davis sacrificed him to third and Samuel Anaya plated him with a hard hit ball that got by the 2nd baseman. Owens closed the door from there and Mendon had finished the regular season at 10 - 10.
The Vikings will next host Eastridge High School on Tuesday 5/21 at 5:00 in the first round of sectional play.
